Over two centuries of history culminated in our Eighteen 21 brand. What all our houses have in common is our love for tradition and modernity.

We are cultural enthusiasts at heart, as one can probably tell by now. As such, our houses under Eighteen 21 all tell a piece of our story and that of our beloved country, Portugal. There are already plenty of rooms, houses or hotels you could choose from here, but what makes ours special is that you can feel the memories in the air and can sense the story on the walls. Because, afterall, to us, Eighteen 21 is our way to keep our family legacy alive and hopefully inspire our guests to embark on a cultural trip with us.

Even though Eighteen 21 is one year, our story begins over 300 years ago in the heartland of Alentejo, the countryside. Passed down from the Portuguese royal family the Jesuits, bishops, and finally our ancestors, Casa dos Condes became our home. A place where we, and 4 generations before us, found comfort in. A labyrinth of courtyards, rooms and living rooms, the house transports us back in time and remind us of the blissful childhood years of venturing into a place filled with magic and secrets.

Casa de São Domingos, in Lisbon, is where we grew up in. Nestled in the upscale neighbourhood of Lapa, a residential area once occupied by noblemen, we share fond memories of running down the stairs, playing in the garden and exploring the many secret corners of this hidden gem of a place. If you happen to cross paths with a retired gentleman during your stay here, you’ll pleased to know he’s our father and a great storyteller. Grab a tea and feel free to invite him over for a chat. He’ll enchant you with stories about us and Portugal.

Wonder about our other houses? Our Quinta Velha, Casa de São Paulo and Casas das Caldeiras were later additions but we made sure to bring along our very special touch. Every detail was carefully considered to pass along the same feeling as the other houses. While we all appreciate history and cultural significance on things, when it comes to comfort, we don’t take that lightly. Expect hotel-quality bedding, amenities, air con / heating systems and showers with water pressure! For those staying Quinta Velha and Casa dos Condes, fresh breakfast is also served.

When the idea of bringing all the houses under one roof sparked upon us, we soon began to wonder what we should name it and we eventually decided on a name that would translate our essence — houses immersed in tradition and old-world charm of the eighteenth century fused so seamlessly with the modern comfort of the 21st.
